BLP: From here we will drive to the healing city of Hierapolis (Pamukkale) mentioned in Colossians, where hot mineral water bursts from the earth and cascades over steep cliffs forming pools, channels and stalactites. The therapeutic waters were known to the founders of Hierapolis and of Laodicea in 190 BC.

Pamukkale forms an important backdrop to the original Greco-Roman town of Hierapolis and the cultural landscape which dominates the area.
Geology Science: The name “Pamukkale” means “cotton castle” in Turkish, and it is known for the breathtakingly beautiful white terraces of travertine, which are created by the flow of hot springs. The terraces are formed over thousands of years, as the water deposits calcium carbonate, which solidified and creates the formations.
ambertiles.com.au: Travertine is a sedimentary rock that consists principally of calcite, the hexagonal form of calcium carbonate (CaCO3). It is formed by calcium carbonate separating from shallow or surface waters by a process of rapid precipitation.
