The ancient site at Kavala.
Neapolis was a town of Macedonia, located 9 miles from the harbour of Philippi.
Kavala has been identified with Neapolis, where Brutus stationed his fleet before the Battle of Philippi (42 BC) and where the apostle Paul landed on his way from Samothrace (Samothraki) to Philippi. It was known as Christopolis in the Byzantine era.
Neapolis is the place in Northern Greece, where Paul and his associates first landed in Europe, Acts 16:11, where no doubt, he landed also on his second visit to Macedonia, Acts 20:1, and whence, certainly he embarked on his last journey, through that province to Troas and Jerusalem.
